The goal of this study is to describe the types of messages initiated by patients communicating via patient portals and to assess whether providers employ patient-centered strategies in their electronic responses.
More effective and efficient diabetes care might be achieved by focusing patient-centered strategies on patients with specific risk profiles.
They should emphasize salt-restriction, possibly with referral to a nutritionist, and employ patient-centered strategies to assess and enhance medication adherence.
It is expected that the patient-centered strategies outlined in the above protocol will support family physicians in improving patient understanding of CRC, the importance of FOBT screening in average-risk individuals as well as providing specific instructions on how to conduct the FOBT.
