This is particularly advantageous in cases where a rapid immune response has to be mounted against a pathogen, for example in the case of an influenza pandemic.
AMPs transcribed at a constant level are known key components of an immediate defence against invading pathogens [ 75- 77], and many proteins that are pathogen-inducible, for example, in leaves were found to be constitutively present in storage tissues, such as seed [ 38].
