Did Apple do anything wrong in the Path case?
We generalize for L-branch MRC the capacity expression given for single path case (L = 1) in[6, 7].
This article has been updated to clarify the differences between the Path case and QuizUp's, to note that text was transmitted over SSL and to reinforce that it never stored user contacts on its servers.
To be clear, QuizUp is not retaining any contact data on their servers, which was another major component of the Path case, and it asks explicitly for user permission to use the data to find friends.
In both studies we have investigated the performance of users: (i) When they access stairs directly along their path (case 1); and (ii) After performing a 90° turn before encountering the staircase (case 2).
We deform the paths case by case.
We first consider the single-path case.
The performance of the final classification decision is shown in Figure 14 for the two-path case and in Figure 15 for the multipath case.
