Before you dismiss that statement as the pathetic ravings of a woman who as of last week had received few invitations (thanks, Marissa, for coming through with the chili party invite), consider the following words of wisdom.

They have a party, invite their new friends, give them chicken vol-au-vents and brandy snaps, and show them who they are on their phones.
This culture of two-night stands is akin to having a private party – invite all your mates and colleagues and you will probably fill the place.
And yet, on the foot, it had a tremendous logic: austere at the base, and overflowing at the top — what you might wear if the party invite read Mardi Gras formal.
So the town has designated a Reach Out to Your Neighbor month; plan a pot-luck supper or block party, invite the folks you usually wave at from the driveway, and "we'll buy the hot dogs," the mayor says.
So make it easier for yourself: take a leaf out of the book of a dear friend of mine and include in your party invite a request to help clear up during and after the party.
