The main differences among arrangements of the same group reside in the presence/absence of different ISs (either complete or partly deleted), some insertions/deletions (indels), and/or repeat sequences (fig. 6).
Partly overlapping deletions that also appear to have arisen independently have also been found in a number of other RDs (e.g. RD9 and 12) suggesting that some loci are hot spots for genomic changes.
In one of the deletions, ED4475 (partly overlapping with the deletion used in Stenberg et al. 2009), ubiquitously expressed genes are less strongly compensated than tissue-specific genes (P < 0.003), but in the other deletion, ED4542, the difference is not significant.
The 500 kb deletion partly overlaps the most proximal part of the consensus LOH region determined by us in our set of tumours.
Thus, although the vg PRE acts as a strong silencer at site 3, this repression is partly relieved by deletion of the GTGT motifs.

By contrast, deletion of YCA1 partly suppressed cell death and deletion of NMA111 the Omi/homologueologue (Walter et al, 2006)—completely abolished it (Fig 1E and F).
The higher detection rate of 9p deletion could be partly explained by the difference in cut-off threshold for deletion.
