Although approximately 5% of the adult A. ferus used in our study were collected from panel traps in the forest, most were collected at night by hand at the SRS Rolleston sawmill (−43.587, 172.379) where they are attracted to building lights (Pawson et al. 2009).
Adult H. ligniperda were collected using ethanol and alpha-pinene baited flight intercept panel traps following Meurisse and Pawson (2017), in recently harvested P. radiata stands in Ashley (−43.203, 172.567), Bottle Lake (−43.460, 172.697), and West Melton (−43.466, 172.415) plantation forests (Canterbury, New Zealand).
