The exhibition, divided into 12 sections, contains 200 items, including period photographs, postcards, paintings, programs for those theatrical evenings, and artifacts like a bathing costume, a set of three white summer dresses, a clam basket and a life preserver from a beach club.
Two other stimulus-funded projects, a $30 million bridge-painting job on Routes 1 and 9 and a $15.3 million bridge-painting program on I-280, have already been put out for bid and are scheduled to be awarded shortly, according to the State Transportation Department.
The exhibition draws on the magnificent collection of Diaghilev designs, photos, paintings and programs bequeathed by Howard D. Rothschild, a wealthy collector who died in 1989.
