In this paper we investigate the role of medium access control on the performance of network-wide real-time data broadcasting through flooding using three MAC protocols (IEEE 802.11, CPS, and MH-TRACE) in terms of QoS (packet delivery ratio, packet delay, and delay jitter) and energy dissipation.
They recommended operating a DCF network far below the saturation load to achieve stable throughput and to avoid unbounded mean packet delay and delay jitter.
In [14], the vertical handoff is applicable to a wider set of context changes, including network QoS (e.g., bandwidth, loss rate, packet delay, and delay jitter), user device preferences, and so forth.
Experiments also show improvements on packet delay and jitter.
It does so while still maintaining overall QoS performance in terms of packet delay, mean jitter, packet loss, and throughput under various fault conditions.
These results reveal that packet delay and jitter are strongly affected by the satellite network component as well as the type of speech codec used.
The approach minimizes packet delay, interarrival jitter, inter-ISP traffic and traffic at the ISP core network, which are some of the main drawbacks of P2P networks, whilst still meeting stringent QoS demands.
Figures 11 and 12 show the results for mean packet delay and jitter, respectively.
In other words streaming media quality degrades with increased packet delay and jitter caused by network congestion.
(1) Packet level: in packet level, specified QoS parameters such as dropping probability, maximum packet delay and jitter must be guaranteed to users.
Next, main results for BLER, throughput, goodput, mean packet delay and jitter [17] are shown for different sizes of Δ down.
