The processes were studied in three groups: processes deriving from the heterogeneous photocatalysis (using TiO2), oxidation systems based on Fenton-type reactions (homogeneous photocatalysis) and processes based on the application of ozone (ozone catalysis).
The mixture containing acrylic acid, acrylonitrile and toluene was degraded at F3 and P25 photocatalysts, whereas the mixture of acrylonitrile, styrene and toluene at P25 with admixtures of ozone; ozone was also used for regeneration of P25.
The UGA measurements were made for each of the following 10-min intervals: O2 on (no ozone), ozone on, O2 on (no ozone), ozone on, O2 on (no ozone), and finally, a second atmospheric background.
However, all ozone-exposed rats (ozone, ozone + DEP) exhibited increased PenH [see Supplemental Material, Figure 2, (doi 10.1289/ehp.1002386)].
Since crucial atmospheric parameters like total column ozone, ozone profile, aerosol optical depth and aerosol profiles are known with reasonable accuracy, the observed deviation between model results and observations are most likely resulting from 3-D effects.
Bell et al. (2004) estimated the percent increase in short-term mortality per 10-ppb increase in ozone (ozone mortality coefficient) for 95 U.S. urban communities based on data from the National Morbidity, Mortality, and Air Pollutions Study (NMMAPS).
