New Yorkers overwhelmingly fell in behind Senator Kerry of Massachusetts, supporting his candidacy by almost three to one over Senator John Edwards of North Carolina.
If the data were to show that White or Hispanic women or men were overwhelmingly exceeding intended parity or overwhelmingly falling short of intended parity – as we see in many European countries – there would be reason to infer that individuals face powerful structural barriers to achieving their preferences.

Rebuttal: The victory of the Greater Evil would be best for the USA only if (a) it would have a reasonable likelihood of producing the desired effect (e.g. the shock, change, reform, or third party), (b) the projected harm inflicted would not be worse than the benefit, and (c) the harm would not fall overwhelmingly upon already-disadvantaged groups.

But overwhelmingly the suffering falls on females.
It was overwhelmingly terrifying – like falling into a parallel universe where nothing is real and everything is one long nightmare you can't pinch yourself out from.
They're falling overwhelmingly on the middle class and the poor.
It holds, first, that even if the harrowing cost of a policy blunder falls overwhelmingly on other people, it's still an "American" experience.
