"The word 'icon' can be overused," said Linda Dishman, the executive director of the Los Angeles Conservancy.
Even cardiologists who think the CT scans are overused say they may one day prove valuable.
"The last thing we want would be for a new drug to be overused," said Dr. Boucher of Tufts University, who is also a director of the infectious disease society.
"There's no question that they've been overused," said Joan Bieder, a senior lecturer at the Graduate School of Journalism at the University of California at Berkeley, who teaches television production.
"Sometimes, when neighborhoods improve, the word 'gentrification' is overused," said Vivian Becker, director of the Pratt Area Community Council, a housing advocacy group in the neighborhood.
Peter Wickersham, senior vice president for cost of care at Prime Therapeutics, a pharmacy benefits manager that has found the drug is possibly being overused, says the huge increase in Acthar's price for patients "just invites the type of scrutiny that it's received".
"The generation doing pills and coke in the 80s are now in their forties and fifties and still want to go out, but when they do they probably tend to overuse," says Winstock.
"It was overuse," said Mark Wetmore, Dibaba's American agent.
It's one of the few reef areas globally that isn't hammered by overuse," said Michelle Grady from Pew Charitable Trusts.
But Woodland said the forest service is reluctant to encourage major development for one simple reason: "Crystal Lake was being overused," he said.
HPV tests are overused, she said.
