In young and otherwise healthy people with overt hypothyroidism, a full replacement dose (adjusted by weight) can be started immediately; in the elderly and people with heart disease a lower starting dose is recommended to prevent over supplementation and risk of complications.
There were four diabetes complication states: cardiovascular disease (CVD), including myocardial infarction or stroke [ 35], retinopathy, including proliferative retinopathy, photocoagulation or blindness, nephropathy, including end-stage renal disease or renal replacement, and overt neuropathy, including abnormal touch sensation, ulceration or extremity amputation [ 36].
