The word 'overstepping' is correct and usable in written English
It is commonly used to describe a situation where someone has exceeded or transgressed a boundary or limit. Example: The boss made it clear that overstepping his authority would not be tolerated in the workplace. This means that the boss has set a clear boundary for his employees and any action that goes beyond that boundary would be considered overstepping and could lead to consequences.
