Overlap and correlation analyses were used to identify multiple service hotspots and the relationships between landscape services.
The comparisons MPI interference with pain versus SF-36 role physical, 0.42 versus 0.03, and MPI activity versus SF-36 physical functioning, 0.22 versus 0.27, were not statistically tested since these domains showed a small overlap and correlation in the regression analysis whereas the other three (pain, interference, mood) largely overlapped – our data reproduced these overlap findings.
In summary, in spite of the low overlap and correlation between differentially expressed genes in the two species, functional analysis based on GO and expression cluster enrichment could identify conserved aspects of the transcriptional program associated with the dauer recovery process in the two species.
The results of the analysis of the Ensembl transcript-mapped overlapping probes were highly similar in terms of overlap (Table 1), and correlations of ranks and t-statistics (data not shown).
The statistical significance of the co-localization of these two proteins is supported by Mander's overlap and Pearson correlation values of +0.88 and +0.83, respectively.
As transcription factors bind to motifs in regulatory upstream regions to modulate gene expression it is reasonable to expect a relationship between motif overlap and interspecies correlation.
The expression profiles from the two species look surprisingly different with limited overlap and weak correlation between orthologous genes that are differentially expressed during the dauer stage and the dauer-recovery process.

Obviously, there is some overlap between the two measures, and correlations are likely between the QoL measure and needs-for-care items, though it is clear from our results on the relationship between needs for care and QoL that not all needs for care are important for quality of life, and certainly not equally important.
