The Chicago-based company currently has 6 million users that have made over 60 million transactions with Belly at the over 11,000 merchants that currently utilize the technology.
On February 16th one of its former executives and three ex-employees of General Re, a big reinsurer, are due to be arraigned in Virginia on criminal charges over the use of two transactions that allegedly distorted AIG's earnings in 2000 and 2001.
The only other such settlement, for $80 million from Merrill Lynch & Company, involved two transactions over a short period; the accusations against the banks involved a range of deals over many years that investigators say were used to portray borrowed money as cash generated by Enron's business.
"An investigation of this scale into the management practices of waiting times has never been done before, with over 2.5 million transactions over a six-month period reviewed to identify any trends which needed further investigation".
So far the company claims over five million customers, over 30 million transactions per month and an 85% market share in Latam.
That network saw over 51 million transactions in Q1 2017, totalling over $16 billion – far larger than Venmo, which reported $6.8 billion in total payments volume in its last quarter.
Today, Alipay is China's largest third-party payment platform with 70% market share, boasting over 400 million users and generating over 80 million transactions per day (compared to PayPal's 9 million).
In Q1 2017, over 51 million transactions flowed through this network, totalling over $16 billion.
The app, which will support data from over 1,000 financial institutions by 2014, has been downloaded over 200,000 times and has aggregated data from over 15 million transactions since it launched.
