"The good news is that you can go and outsource all this stuff," says Nathan Myhrvold, the Microsoft futurist who now is on a leave of absence.
"Outsourcing the stuff you don't like to do or that's particularly time consuming is very dangerous, because it can quickly eat up more or your time and money than doing it yourself," says Jeff Huckaby, a managing partner at RackAid, a website hosting and security company in Jacksonville, Fla., that serves lots of small business.
"Twitter's smart enough, or lucky enough, to say, 'Gee, let's not try to compete with our users in designing this stuff, let's outsource design to them,' " said Eric von Hippel, head of the innovation and entrepreneurship group at the Sloan School of Management at M.I.T. and author of the book "Democratizing Innovation".
Following the Wiley giveaway, fans inevitably compared notes online, compiling personal favourites and generally outsourcing the job of hearing all this stuff.
