The need to quantify the output of inspection qualification has become more important as structural reliability modelling and quantitative risk-informed in-service inspection methodologies become more widely used.
The reason for this was that no information was available about the system output: no inspection or audit was performed, no samples (for microbiological or chemical analyses) were taken, no visual quality was evaluated, and no non-conformities were recorded or evaluated.
