Whilst there may be an element of error we compared our data to aggregated national level official statistics which showed just 1.4%% fewer overall alcohol outlets in our dataset.
To obtain a national dataset for tobacco outlets, we reviewed North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) codes from 2007 and selected establishments that were likely to sell tobacco products.
With a dataset collected at the outlet of the basin during 1955-2013, we first examined the trends in precipitation, runoff generation, and sediment transport with the Mann-Kendall (M-K) method.
We empirically isolate the effect of triad structure on outlet performance by matching two unique datasets.
After removing duplicates our final dataset contained 10,161 tobacco outlets.
The tenth study, using the same Californian dataset, found that changes in bar and off-premise outlet densities were positively related, and restaurant densities negatively related, to attempted and completed suicide rates [ 34].
To check whether this would impact our results, we have also considered a 'balanced' (sample) dataset that includes the same number of left and right media outlets, and we found the results to be consistent in both.
The input dataset consisted of a daily time series of hydraulic head values (m) at the inlet and outlet control structures of WCA2A (represented by the green squares in Figure 1) for the years 1979 2000 (Wang 2009).
