"It's one thing to spend 50 years in television, it's another to have been in television for 50 years and still have the broadcast that is the gold standard against which every other broadcast of its type is judged," Mr. Hewitt said.
"Because of piracy, the Internet has not been able to grow as other broadcast venues of entertainment have grown," John LoFrumento, chief executive of Ascap, said.
Other broadcasts accused Mr Luzhkov of destroying Moscow's historic centre and failing to deal with its dreadful traffic.The film about Mr Luzhkov drew on a highly critical report by Boris Nemtsov, a Russian opposition leader.
