They'll spend the next five weeks helping with phone banks, canvassing and organizing drivers to take voters to the polls during early voting and on Election Day.
Even Uber has joined the effort, by organizing drivers in 23 European cities to pick up donations and drive them to designated drop off points this week.
And "Big" Bill France ran his sport his way, threatening and taking action against anyone espousing organizing drivers or anyone else into any sort of union which might threaten his absolute control.
The workers are scheduled to vote on Dec. 22 and 23 on whether to affiliate with either Local 805 of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters or Local 348 of the United Food and Commercial Workers union, which recently organized Fresh Direct drivers.
But on Friday afternoon, the Teamsters union announced that it was launching a campaign to organize Uber drivers in California, possibly through the very drivers' associations that Uber has agreed to form.
