The Baptist Joint Committee for Religious Liberty filed a friend-of-the-court brief in the case, opposing the town's practice of opening municipal meetings with prayer, saying the practice violates the conscience of those who have to be in attendance to participate in the meeting.
He is not opposed to town houses and high-rises, just to bulldozing antiques to accommodate them.
"It is inappropriate to build modern construction on the site," said Marion Harris, chairwoman of the Morristown Historic Preservation Commission, which opposes the town houses.
Mr. Albertini and his lawyers argue that, given the conditions under which the estate was purchased, Mr. Plée's descendants are its "possessors," not its owners, and so have no legal right to oppose the town's project.

At soccer and basketball games around town, opposing players he'd never met would hoot: "Oh, you're that kid".
Try taking an opposing viewpoint to town with somebody who doesn't want to hear it.
"We go to the village hall meetings every other Monday, and there's a good 30 or 40 or 50 people who come and continuously ask questions," said Marimonica Murray, who has distributed signs around town opposing the detention center.
Virtually since the returns were counted two years ago, Mr. Ford has been working nearly nonstop at a second chance to oppose Mr. Towns.
