And when there is an excess of power, there are few opportunities for export.
"This will expand opportunities for export-oriented growth in poorer labor surplus economies, at a rate and on a scale that could be transformative for the prospects for the densely populated parts of the developing world," he said.

Energy crops may provide income for the rural poor and lessen domestic dependency on fossil fuel imports while increasing opportunities for export revenue.
This will also open up many new opportunities for e-commerce and for exporting applications in what's likely to be a growing global market for reducing the costs of public service delivery.
Although the region offers plenty of opportunity for export-based manufacturing, as a single market it remains highly fragmented.
