The algorithm contains a wide range of tools for image analysis: in particular, morphological operations, segmentation and linear and non-linear transformations.
Consequently, they cannot be fully automatized, must be fine-tuned on the case-by-case basis, and require additional morphological operations for segmentation refinement.
Then, following operations of segmentation and region growing, the 3D model of the desired area can be obtained and, if necessary, surface irregularities can be smoothed.

Here, we introduce a specialized and convenient sequence of segmentation operations for making such models that greatly improves their reliability and spatial resolution as compared to current approaches, providing a basis for making accurate measurements.
