An old barbershop on Cortelyou Road is being converted into a white tablecloth restaurant, and a farmer's market now operates on Saturdays at the nearby Public School 139.
It also operates on Saturdays between May and December, with more frequent weekly departures scheduled in July, August, late November and December.
Community activities: There are festivals and a popular farmers market that operates on Saturdays, and many residents prefer Maple Lawn's annual Fourth of July fireworks display to the more popular ones in Columbia and the District, she said.
Through Dec. 20, a new Greenmarket will operate on Saturdays on the Upper West Side, in the triangle from 65th to 66th Street at Broadway and Columbus Avenue, with 10 farmers and other food producers selling their wares.

The Aqueduct flea market ran three days a week, while the Coney Island market will operate on Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
The Market Corner opened in May with plans for international food sellers to operate on Fridays and Saturdays.
The 90-minute services will depart Norwich at 09 00 and 17:00 (calling at Ipswich at 09 33 and 17 33) and, in the other direction, from London Liverpool Street at 11 00 and 19 00 (calling at Ipswich at 11 55 and 19 57) and will operate on Mondays to Saturdays.
