The retailer, which operates Gap, Old Navy and Banana Republic stores, has been struggling with weak sales and has been trying to make a turnaround, shedding executives and cutting costs.
Gap, which is based in San Francisco and operates Gap, Old Navy and Banana Republic chains, said last month that earnings would miss forecasts of 26 cents a share, as June sales at stores opened for a year declined.
The model considers important variables, including the HPGR rolls geometry and design, the hydraulic spring system start-up parameters and the material loading response, to describe key operational outputs as material throughput, operating gap and roller pressure distribution.
The preliminary version of the model has been used to demonstrate qualitatively the effect of material properties on the operating gap, the pressure and the energy consumption of a laboratory-scale HPGR.
Most notably, the weak economy has created operating gaps ranging from the hundreds of millions of dollars in Arizona to the tens of billions in California, Illinois, and New Jersey.
Gap operates the Gap chain of apparel stores, Banana Republic and Old Navy.
Gap Inc., which operates the Gap, Banana Republic and Old Navy stores, had an 8percentt decline, slightly less than analysts expected.
"They came in, they left -- my understanding is they were in and out in a just a few minutes," said Jack Dougherty, a spokesman for the Gap Inc., in San Francisco, which operates 3,800 Gap, Banana Republic and Old Navy Stores nationwide.
The retailer that operates the Gap, Old Navy and Banana Republic chains repeated a 2010 earnings range of $1.77 to $1.82 a share first issued in May.
The orchestra has put its operating gap this season at $13 million, but it said the gap would be $14.5 million under a more responsible draw on endowment.
A copy of the letter, which was obtained by The New York Times from county officials, states, "We commit to publicly supporting a tax increase sufficient to close the remaining Fiscal 2000 operating gap (after accounting for recurring initiatives) if other measures do not close the gap".
