Control un-operated or operated eyes recovered on day-14 post-surgery were fixed in 4% paraformaldehyde before processing and sectioning with the Microm HM550 (Carl Zeiss Ltd). 5 µm sections were stained with hematoxylin and eosin to visualize tissue morphology.
VA outcomes measured in RAABs are reported as the percentage of all operated eyes, regardless of the type of operation, with a good outcome, poor outcome, and borderline outcome (VA worse than 6/18 but better or equal to 6/60).
According to our recent study, the outcome of cataract surgery in Varamin district was desirable (post operative visual acuity ≥ 6/18) in 71.9% of operated eyes [ 27].
