The MIT Press has published over 100 open access books.
Open access books are available in their entirety online for free and may be cited, quoted, and reprinted without fee or permission.
Some flexibility is also needed in terms of licences, and in contrast to journal articles the Trust will accept less liberal licences for open access books to help publishers develop sustainable and cost-effective business models.
We now have enhanced and permanent access to more than 2700 open access books (most in French but also in Italian, Spanish and Portuguese) that can be read in four different formats (epub, pdf, html, or reader) from prestigious academic presses like CNRS Éditions, Presses Universitaires de Rennes, and l'École française de Rome.
Likewise, for open access books, a book processing charge (BPC) is paid.
