Thus, I used the Clustal W program [ 21] to align the N-terminal one-third regions of the proteins of human, rat, mouse, Drosophila, Chironomus, Arabidopsis, and yeasts.
Similarly, conserved sequences in the S. pombe subunit and the three Arabidopsis homologs (GIs 25402830, 9665127, and 15218016), are located in the N-terminal one-third regions of the proteins (Fig. 2C).
Comparison of the convergent iterative alignments obtained by these PSI-BLAST searches revealed that the vertebrate, yeast, and Arabidopsis proteins have similarities in their N-terminal one-third regions.
With symmetric host contact rates and equal host population sizes, and without seasonal forcing, we would expect trunk proportions of one third for each region.
In order to further localize the CaV2.2-interacting region we generated two additional GST fusion proteins for the proximal and distal two thirds of the C3strep construct, and hence, with a one-third overlap region: C3prox and C3dist (Fig. 3A).
It appeared that about one third of these regions contained no annotated genes, a proportion far greater than in prokaryote genomes.
