All rats received two sessions (5 days apart), each of 20 trials, during which the rat was exposed to two objects (one novel, one familiar) on every trial (see Figure 2).
On every trial, one sound sequence had a timbre designated as the 'target' timbre, Tt, while the other had a distinct 'distractor' timbre, Td.
In one naming condition, the pictures and words were presented simultaneously on every trial, and participants produced the target response immediately.
Then it gets a cue which is different on every trial.
One pair (the standard interval) was separated by 500 ms on every trial for half of the participants ("500 group") and 800 ms on every trial for the other half ("800 group").
After 4 training sessions, participants were exposed to a probe session in which zombies could be found in any room on every trial.
A standard Perruchet condition was compared with a control condition in which US recency was controlled by presenting the US on every trial.
