Mr. Carcieri's office sent termination notices to 153 employees on Thursday and told 330 others they would probably lose their jobs by July 1, although it will likely be sooner, said Jeff Neal, a spokesman for Mr. Carcieri, a Republican.
The prosecutor, Craig Watkins, the county's first black district attorney and the first Democrat to hold the office since 1986, sent termination notices to the eight prosecutors on Wednesday.
Leonora S. Cross, a spokesman for the Comptroller's office, confirmed the termination of the agreement, but declined to comment on it.
In July, U.S. Energy Savings agreed to pay $200,000 in costs and penalties after customers complained to the state attorney general's office about $600 termination fees they had to pay to cancel long-term contracts.

"The guilty verdict reached today involved a violation of the officer's oath of office and merits immediate termination," Police Commissioner Ray Kelly told reporters at a press conference today, according to the Daily News, "Both officers will be terminated today".
Plaintiffs also assert that Fisker also violated California labor laws by failing to inform the state unemployment office about the terminations.
"The guilty verdicts involved violations of the officers' oaths of office and, as a result, warrant immediate termination," Mr. Kelly said.
"I can't understand why the prosecutor's office is investigating the termination of a probationary patrolman and perhaps the appointment of a highly competent captain to acting chief.
