DAS is based on a client server architecture in which numerous decentralized servers offer annotations of a reference entity provided by another server.
We chose the RAST automated bacterial genome annotation system [ 24] because it is free of charge, confidential, secure, handles compute-intensive bacterial genome annotation jobs quickly, and allows users to upload their own sequences, i.e., it does not just offer annotations of publicly available bacterial genomic DNA sequence datasets.
For each tandem duplicated gene, PTGBase offered complete Gene Ontology (GO) annotation, including GO identifier, term, and corresponding name space.
