We presented cues in a change-detection task either just after off-set of the memory array (iconic-cue), 1,000 ms after off-set of the memory array (retro-cue) or after on-set of the probe array (post-cue).
Cues were introduced at different latencies during the trial; either 10 ms after off-set of the memory array (iconic-cue; Fig. 1d), 1,000 ms after off-set of the memory array (retro-cue; Fig. 1e), or 100 ms after on-set of the probe array (post-cue; Fig. 1f).
Given the fact that we calculated the time delay between the off-set of the first memory trace and the onset of freezing, the causality should be beyond questionable.
During trace conditioning, the conditioned stimulus (tone, 2-sec, 85 dB continuous tonic sound at 2800 Hz) was given and then followed by a 20-sec interval (after the off-set of the tone) before the unconditioned stimulus (a continuous 285-ms foot shock at 0.75 mA) was delivered in the shock chamber.

The discrepancies may be due to limitations of the meteorological data, inparticular a difference in the wind direction obtained from the NWP with respect to the actual wind field leading to the apparent off-set of the modelled plume trajectory from the VHF sources, in addition to simplifications in the derivation of the model.
The on- and off-set of the stimulus were smoothed by a linear ramp of 50 ms. We presented the stimuli in the scanner at an RMS sound pressure level of 75 dB using custom adapted electrostatic headphones based on a Nordic NeuroLab system (NordicNeuroLab, Bergen, Norway).
Thus, methodological advances for delivering and removing a standardized pain stimulus needed to be made that would permit: the rapid onset and off-set of the evoked-pain stimuli; the delivery of stimuli that were relatively unbiased by psychosocial factors; and the use of a pain stimulus that was meaningful and relevant to the condition of FM.
The three models included regressors that were created by convolving a canonical haemodynamic response function and its temporal and spatial derivatives with the box-car functions of the on- and off-sets of the experimental and baseline conditions.
