"Nobody is asking for money right now -- at least none of my clients," said Toni Goodale, a society figure and chairwoman of Goodale Associates, which consults and raises money for clients that include Beth Israel Hospital, the International Center of Photography and Temple Emanu-El.
"There has been limited enforcement of social networking fraud," says Scott Brown, associate director of MarketCounsel, which consults financial advisers on legal and regulatory issues.
"You have to be willing to walk away from the things that have made you great," says Scott D. Anthony, president of Innosight, which consults with companies (including newspapers and automotive businesses) on how to foster a culture of innovation.
"Companies are trying to engage with the activists early, below the radar, so that things don't have to bubble up to the surface and become public, which is extremely disruptive to the company," said Damien Park, the founder of Hedge Fund Solutions, which consults with companies and hedge funds on activism.
"Vioxx wasn't a bad drug for everyone, it was a bad drug for certain patients," says Chris D. Robbins of Arxcel, which consults to pharmacy benefit managers.
William Poole, head of Sponsorlogic, which consults with PGA Tour sponsors, says Weekley's willingness to do these events is a rare trait among pro golfers.
Angela Guido, a Chicago-based founder of MBA Career Coaches, which consults with current and prospective MBA students, has clients who are unsure about what private equity is but are certain that's what they want to do.
"It's severely tarnished," said Geoff Bobroff, president of Bobroff Consulting, which consults with mutual fund companies.
