Unfortunately what we are seeing in the current negotiations is that these kind of mechanisms are totally off the table, and right now the focus is very much talking about innovation in the kind of financing instruments whereby public money would be used to leverage private finance.
The purpose of this paper is to show how this empirical regularity could be solved by an appropriate choice of financing instruments, namely, by an intelligent mix of common stocks and put options.
To examine whether this theory explains the issuance of financing instruments, we analyze whether banks more affected by the costs of adverse selection are those that are more likely to raise market funds through debt instruments.
