Reduction of the dose of peg-IFN-α (either peg-IFN-α-2a or peg-IFN-α-2b) is recommended for patients suffering from platelet counts < 50,000/μL, and cessation of anti-viral treatment is recommended for platelet counts < 25,000/μL [ 7].
