A few months ago, on Nov. 5, 2001, to be exact, The Wall Street Journal ran an odd report from Tehran.
That slightly odd report comes via Emil Protalinski at ZDNet, who explains that the ban comes from a nearly twenty-year-old French law that "forbids the promotion of commercial enterprises on news programs".
Shares in the AIM-listed oil and gas company, which has exploration rights in Algeria and the Kurdistan area of Northern Iraq, have leapt almost 25% after an odd report from an Indian newswire about a bid valuing the company at $2.23bn from the state-owned Indian Oil Corporation.
Then the attention dies away, save the odd report revisiting the disaster-struck area.
The occasional patient I see in clinic, the off-the-cuff remark from the police, even the odd report of a corner street explosion.
