"For Palestinians there should be an alternative to either violent resistance or passive acquiescence to the occupation that can demonstrate that non-violent political, diplomatic and legal tools can produce results," said Daniel Levy of the European Council on Foreign Relations.
Though sex work is an occupation that can readily establish economic security, sex work research often examines the pitfalls of being a sex worker as well as the negative stereotypes associated with being a sex worker.
As argued in the World Health Report 2005, many countries facing current shortages of midwifery providers have been at the mercy of misguided, albeit well intentioned, advice from external donors recommending policy changes to create a multipurpose worker [ 2, 20] or seeing midwifery care as a voluntary occupation that can be performed by a traditional healer or traditional birth attendant.
"The truth is that if you get a liberal arts degree, there are a smaller and smaller set of occupations that you can go into," he said.
"The fastest-growing jobs are dominated by a lot of technical level occupations that one can qualify for with limited post-secondary education," said Jon Sargent, an occupational outlook economist with the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Add "master chef" to the list of occupations that robots can perform more efficiently than humans.
Those out of work for a long time also tend to lose touch with former co-workers in their previous industry or occupation — contacts that can often help an unemployed worker find a job.
Try to find some caring occupation that you can always fall back on, now that your own chicks have flown.
"There are many occupations that government-assisted refugees can find jobs in, and many already have," he said.
