A resonant tunneling process between metal electrode and MP-11 enhances the tunneling current and is responsible for the observed rectification.
The control experiments supported that the observed rectification was a result of transmembrane ionic current instead of electrochemical reaction of ferricyanide.
Ferricyanide has a well-known redox potential of 0.17 V (vs. Ag/AgCl), and thus, an important control experiment was done to make sure that the observed rectification was not due to faradic current; instead, it was due to transmembrane ionic current.

With the decreasing size of ion, we have observed smaller rectification due to partially blocked ion channels.
Due to the zigzag-armchair structural transformation and the possible symmetry-matching between the bands of the source and drain, remarkable intrinsic spin rectification effects are observed, and the rectification coefficient depends strongly on the width of the drain.
We observed a clear rectification in cells expressing eGFPhSK3 CAG 24 already at less depolarized potentials than in eGFPhSK3 CAG 11 and eGFPhSK3 CAG 18.
The slight inward rectification observed at large negative voltage in the first series of symmetrical Na+ experiments was at least partially due to the time dependence of the response.
However, no apparent change of rectification was observed for two-step functionalization.
From Fig. 7, it is clear that no rectification was observed since the current was found under the applied voltage.
When the neat gels are used for both the p-and n-type sides, no rectification is observed as can be seen from Fig. 5b. Figure 5a clearly shows that the current of the interface between the cationic and anionic gels, which is passing through only one direction, originates directly from the doping effect of the gels.
Improved rectification characteristics were observed in annealed sample compared with that in as-deposited one and the rectification ratio is about 2,000.
