The observed dim dot at the bias voltage of +1.0 V, as shown in Fig. 2a, should be the displaced Si edge adatom.
Increased 5-hmC levels in hypoxic SK-N-BE(2) cells were also observed by dot blot assay after labeling 5-hmC with biotin (Song et al., 2011).
This is consistent with the overall increase of mA levels in FTO-depleted cells compared with control cells as observed by dot blot analysis (Supplementary information, Figure S2A).
