On this basis, Hillis et al. identify a set of four basic theories (Fig. 3) for how the brain might perform the multisensory oddity detection task, each with distinct predictions about the nature of the threshold of probe detection around the standard stimulus (Fig. 3, blue dot): The probe stimulus might be detected based on one observation modality i only, ignoring the other entirely.
We predicted that, during action observation, the more modalities through which an observer has experienced a movement, the more sensorimotor brain regions should be engaged.
A hidden Markov model is used to model the sequence of observations of individual modalities.
This is the first randomized, controlled study to use direct observation as a modality of visual feedback to relieve PLP.
We examine the relevance of these results with regard to the spatial and temporal observations from other modalities and the various therapeutic consequences of diazepam and discuss the potential applications of such an approach in terms of drug development and translational neuroscience.
It should be noted that our approach can trivially be generalized to other conditions, such as more modalities of observation and selecting amongst <img src="http://journals.plos.org/plosone/article/asset?id=info?doi/10.1371/journal.pone.0004205.e026.PNG" class= inline-graphic"/> options.
21– 24 However, compared with randomized trials, retrospective studies frequently are plagued with concerns of bias associated with the nonrandom allocation of patients to adjuvant treatment modalities or observation.
Indeed, a key observation is that therapeutic modalities that may improve microvascular function are also associated with decreased organ dysfunction and improved outcome in patients with sepsis [ 6- 8].
In the absence of positive pathology, we aimed at a clinical follow up of at least 24 months of observation with conventional imaging modalities showing progression in measurable lesions by RECIST criteria, or by an adequate response to therapeutic interventions to clarify recurrent CRC.
On the other hand, state-space GC approaches can incorporate modality specific observation equations [ 50].
