"Foods high in fat, sugar and salt seem less expensive but actually deliver less nutrition," says Dr Emma Williams of the British Nutrition Foundation.

The International Nutrition Program developed by Nevin Scrimshaw led to the establishment of the International Nutrition Foundation in 1982 to mobilize support for training, research, communication and policy related to food and nutrition in developing countries.

'Studies have shown that you need incredibly high doses of omega 3 given as a pure fish-oil supplement to get the same effects as with oily fish eaten regularly in the diet,' says Anna Denny, a nutrition scientist with the British Nutrition Foundation.
"There is no branch of nutrition science, past or present, that has not been influenced in some way by the results of her pioneering work," a statement by the British Nutrition Foundation said, "and because of the inspiration and encouragement she gave to nutrition scientists of all ages in the United Kingdom and overseas".
