Last winter, 671 doctors, nurses, emergency medical technicians, firefighters and police officers received the vaccine, far fewer than the 1,000 who signed up for the voluntary program.
But hospitals have been slow to adopt the treatment because it requires a precision of temperature regulation that is difficult to achieve, constant vigilance and cooperation among nursing, emergency, cardiac and neurological units.

Thousands protested in the city in February against the laws, which have won favour among many doctors, nurses, emergency workers and police, but have been bitterly opposed by the music and hospitality industry.

While it recommends more traditionally skilled workers those in the nursing, emergency, and police sectors keep their penalty rates under the workplace relations system, the report calls for hospitality and retail workers to have weekend and public holiday rates cut.
The temporary group includes nurses, emergency technicians, and midwives whom they work on nursing services.
