The software is based on a blade element axisymmetric principle whereby the rotor blade is divided into a number of streamlines.
This induces centrifugal reaction force in the airflow that causes the stream field to expand strongly downstream of the rotor and includes a greater number of streamlines in the active stream in front of the rotor (upstream).
We co-registered the structural connectome data to the standard MNI 2 mm space using the following steps: first, whole-brain streamline tractography was converted into streamline density volumes where the intensities corresponded to the number of streamlines crossing each voxel.
The maximum number of streamlines generated was limited to 100,000 and the maximum number of streamlines selected was set at 1000.
For each tract the number of streamlines was calculated to obtain proxy measurements of tract volume.

In particular, males had larger number of streamlines for within-module edges (Supplementary Fig. S2).
This was done by dividing the number of streamlines connecting two regions of interest by the sum of their volumes.
The number of streamlines retained in each tract segment was also extracted as a relative measure of segment size.
