If mice are presented simultaneously with a familiar and novel compartment to freely explore, they will spend approximately 75% of their time in the novel compartment.
The preference for the novel compartment has been shown to be independent of the environmental cues provided [36].
Although the novel compartment was generally preferred over the familiar one, the percent preference gradually declined throughout the test session (fig. 5a).
Additionally, H-CORT mice showed a tendency towards increased preference for the novel compartment compared to L-CORT subjects (P = 0.13).
Dranoff et al. noted that NTPD2 was present in a novel compartment of fibroblasts in liver, namely portal fibroblasts which surround intrahepatic bile ducts [57].
However, when they are forced into this novel compartment the animals display heightened anxiety levels, as measured by elevated corticosterone [61].

In this section, we use the model to predict novel compartment associations for the 2281 un-annotated proteins in our assembled dataset.
Relative to controls, prepuberal BPA-exposed females entered the novel compartment more quickly, spent less time in it, and showed less risk assessment behaviors; they also spent more time exhibiting self-grooming behaviors.
