While there's real exhilaration in the dancers' collective slashing velocity, it's a one-note piece and it lacks deep structure – which, as De Frutos, knows, is key.
First they found the "notes" – pieces of paper pinned to clothes and objects as reminders.
Donald Simpson, a historical society volunteer, noted pieces of wood joined with wooden dowels.
Josh Marshall, the blog's editor, noted: "Pieces get rewritten all the time, especially with a breaking news story.
"Remember when they used to have AIDS auctions all the time?" he said, noting pieces by David Hockney, Julian Schnabel and Ellsworth Kelly.
Upon closer study, he reportedly found evidence of them having been cut with a man-made instrument, and noted pieces of straw and grain in their droppings.
