Jens Kruger is also a composer of nontraditional bluegrass pieces, including the symphonic works like "Music From the Spring," which made its debut in 2007 with the Bangor Symphony Orchestra, and "Spirit of the Rockies," which had its debut in 2011 at the Banff Center in Alberta.
"It's a nontraditional kind of piece — lots of characters, lots of story lines, lots of sex and drugs — and I think we fit what they were looking for," said Ms. Perloff.
In an interesting piece of nontraditional casting, Dominique Lozano appeared as Juliet's nurse, Lady Montague and Verona's Prince.
