To the Editor: Though we astronomers care more about NASA's robotic missions, like the one now going out to Pluto and beyond, it is nonetheless very sad to see NASA losing its manned capabilities for a decade or more.
Packed with talent and creativity, and a cast and crew bristling with Tony Awards, "Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown" is nonetheless a sad casualty of its own wandering mind.
While I am delighted for Mara Silverman and her family, I nonetheless feel sad when I read of families in such situations who rule out the most obvious choice for balancing the sexes of their children -- adoption -- in favor of more costly, invasive and unreliable techniques (Lives, Nov. 2).
