Most of the studies investigated non cooled neonates with HIE and SCFN.
The overall rate of the primary outcome in the non cooled group is assumed to be approximately 70%.
Each subgroup needs to be large enough to detect a relative risk between the cooled and non cooled groups of about 0.6.
A sample size of 188 infants will be necessary to detect a 30% relative risk reduction between the cooled and non cooled groups, at a significance level of 5% and with 80% power.
