Phi29 DNA polymerase has been considered the optimal choice for MDA because it shows higher efficiency, higher fidelity and a lower error rate compared with Bst DNA polymerase which has no proofreading activity [10, 46].
A Taq DNA polymerase with no proofreading activity (New England BioLabs M0237 Taq DNA polymerase) was used in error-prone reaction conditions (0.1% (v/v) Triton X-100; 50 mM KCL ; 10 mM Tris-HCl [pH 8.3]; 4.76 mM MgSO4 ; 0.5 mM MnCl2) with the following nucleotide concentrations (0.09 mM dCTP ; 0.06 mM dATP; 0.14 mM dTTP; 0.02 mM dGTP).
The RT enzyme has no proofreading ability [ 4] which explains the high mutation rate observed with in vitro experiments for the HIV virus [ 5].
The intrinsic property of reverse transcriptase to generate a high error rate when transcribing RNA into DNA likely represents one of the major sources of mutations as, unlike any other DNA polymerases, reverse transcriptase has no proofreading ability.

Y-family polymerases have large active sites, allowing higher frequencies of base misincorporation, and no proofreading-exonuclease subunits or domains to correct insertions of incorrect bases, both leading to their lower fidelity than "housekeeping" DNA polymerases [6].
No significant proofreading was observed for mismatches located 6 9-nucleotides from the primer terminus.
I'm not sure where this mindset comes from; where people think they can slap together a document with no editing, proofreading, graphic design of any kind, or formatting, and call it a book.
Although HIV-1 RT exhibits no exonucleolytic proofreading activity, it still retains a relatively high level of fidelity of DNA synthesis, i.e., about 2.5 6×10−4 base substitutions per site [2], [3].
First, pol β contains no associated 3'→5' proofreading exonuclease activity, which affects the frequency of both frameshift and microsatellite mutations (Kroutil et al. 1996; Eckert and Hile 2009).
Make any proofreading corrections.
Is there really no one in the proofreading department — as Williams writes about America in his great poem "To Elsie" — "to witness / and adjust, no one to drive the car"?
