The phrase "no adequate reason" is grammatically correct and can be used in written English.
It is commonly used to express disapproval or confusion about a situation where there seems to be no valid justification. Example: "The company's decision to lay off employees without warning is unjustified. There is no adequate reason for such drastic measures."
We see no adequate reason for a distinction in favor of the accused here.
